There's a possible virus infection in BOTH shaniaforums AND hiphopdx.com messageboards... better scan your machines...

My PC has a crazy amount of viruses on it anyway. One more can't hurt Razz

I hope the previous ShaniaForums administrators
are enjoying their 30 pieces of silver...




What makes this even more frustrating, is that (we thought) we KNEW the people who decided to sell Roughstock (and the ShaniaForums included) to a hiphop company.

We worked with them, side by side, for years. Some, we had met in person. We thought we were friends.

Yet, no word about their plans to sell out before, during or afterwards.

We only found out afterwards ourselves by accident & still no explanation.

But we knew the ShaniaForums would not survive in the long run under the ownership of a company that is specialized in the hiphop community. We wrote about our growing concerns, but many took our rants as doomsday talk and labelled us as "just being negative".



A new message from CMG:


The HipHopDX Messageboards
Dear HipHopDX Fans,

A few months ago, our Messageboards were attacked by an unknown source. Because of the nature of the electronic attack, we were forced to pull the Messageboards and indefinitely suspended any activity on the domain. In the weeks that followed, we consulted with security experts and weighed out our options on when and if we could bring this community back online. Despite our best efforts, and because of how extensive the attack was on our code-base, we currently do not have any plans to bring the Messageboards back.

Every day, we host conversations with thousands of HipHopDX readers on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, and we encourage all of our Messageboard users to turn to these places to continue to engage with us and each other about the culture we all love. We know the Messageboards were a long-standing part of the HipHopDX community, but we're confident that the home we're creating around HipHopDX.com, and it's extensions within Facebook and Twitter, will continue to thrive as a forum for Hip Hop conversation for years to come.

AND we happen to know for a FACT, that the CMG CEO has complained about the costs of running the Forums; web server, software license fees, not enough visitors now compared to 2002-2004... Mr Cherian NEVER came across as any kind of fan of Shania... we knew from the first moment he emerged, the days of ShaniaForums were numbered.

It also looks like he has no respect towards his hiphop members either - as he isn't planning to restore or even give hiphopdx.com a new messageboard... money saved, is money earned - right..?

I still think we should hit them with some major Shania spam when they get their hiphop message boards up and running. Very Happy Who knows, maybe we will educate them on what good music is.

Its all a load of skcollob. The boards cost so much to maintain that they have just decided to do away with them. I set this one up in no time, no reason they couldnt have done the same...
